Nuclear Power Essays (1313 words) - Nuclear Technology,
Nuclear Power We use many sources of energy. One of our major sources is oil. Oil has been around for a long time. It is used in lamps, and it is refined into gas. Plastic products are also made from oil. From the 1900s and up oil has been used mostly in cars and boats. Oil is the most used natural resource we use (ChemCom 155). It is used the most because it is easy to find. The next most used source is nuclear energy. Nuclear power plants started to emerge in the 1950s. Russia had the first power plant (Keeler 39). Nuclear power plants are safe and very clean. Nuclear power is also very efficient. For every one million people in a city a nuclear power plant only needs 3 kilograms of uranium (Keeler 39). The third power source is natural gas. Natural gas is used in many household products. The main product in the house is the furnace. Practically all home furnaces run on natural gas. The second thing in the house that could be run by natural gas is the stove and oven. Many homes have gas burners and gas stoves , but there are some homes that use electricity for the stove and oven. The next product is water heaters. Water heaters burn natural gas to heat water. The main reason we use oil so much is because it is used in many things we use. Oil is used in cars, and it is refined into gasoline. The most important reason we use oil so much is because it is cheap. We used coal because it was easy to get. Coal also burned for a long time. Since coal was easy to get it was sold for a very cheap price. We use nuclear power because it is clean and it produces large amounts of energy. Natural gas is the same it burns clean when it produces energy. The effects of the energy we use now are terrible. When oil is burned it produces many harmful chemicals ( ChemCom 155). These chemicals include , carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. Both of these chemicals pollute and are harmful to people. Oil is a non-renewable rsource, Oil will start to get harder and harder to find. The oil will be expensive to find and expensive to buy. Present day sources of oil will be gone in a little over 60 years (Discovery channel, Beyond 2000). Coal is already practically gone, They dont use it because it costs too much to mine and doesnt produce enough energy to make up for the price paid to mine. Natural gas is clean and efficient. Right now there is a lot of natural gas, but it still is not renewable. That isnt enough to produce the energy made by oil or nuclear energy. Examples of energy alternatives , such as wind mills have been around for centuries. In the 1600s and 1700s wind mills were used to pump water and crush grain. At the end of the 1800s , 6 ? million farms has windmills ( keeler, 69). Now todays windmills dont pump water or crush grain, they spin turbines. Ever since the oil embargo in the 70s people have been looking for energy alternatives. Wind power is very efficient and clean. It doesnt pollute at all (Keeler , 69 ). Since technology keeps getting better, wind power gets better also. Now the most modern wind mill can generate 2500 kilowatts of energy at speeds of 45 miles an hour ( Keeler ,69). If wind get too high the wind mill shuts down automatically. Solar energy is another non polluting energy alernative. Solar energy is collected by the sun from photovallic panels ( Keeler ,69). There are many test sites for solar panels. But they are located on the desert. The electric car is the most popular energy altenative. They have started appearing in california and some other states. Electric cars have gbeen around since 1908 Studabaker automobiles produced the first electric car ( New York Times p. 5bt ), but the car died out because gas powered cars could go faster and farther that the electric car. Now electric cars can go over

Comparison of Judaism and Buddhism Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 4
Comparison of Judaism and Buddhism - Term Paper Example In this covenant, Abraham and his descendants were supposed to faithfully keep the commandments of God and to worship Him, while God would be their father and would protect them from all dangers and give them the victory of their enemies. In the Abrahamic covenant, the Israelites were supposed to lead morally upright lives through obedience to God. Judaism, therefore, was founded by Abraham, the father of the Jews people, and it is centered to obedience in YHWH, the God of Abraham and the God of all Jews. On the other hand, Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama in around 566 B.C.E. Gautama was a son of an Indian kind and he spent his adolescence life and his early adult life in a life of extravagance. When he was bored with luxuries of the world, Gautama wondered into the wilderness in search of enlightenment and understanding. In his meditations on sufferings while in the wilderness, Gautama had an insight into how to free from sufferings and to achieve salvation. Following this insight, Gautama was known as Buddha, meaning the enlightened one. According to Buddhism religion, morally right actions bring about happiness and long life, while immoral actions bring about unhappiness in the long run. Apart from their similarities in regard to their moral teachings, the other two main similarities between Judaism and Buddhism is in regard to their attitude towards future life, and their views on the proselytizing their religions. Both the Judaism and Buddhism religion do not emphasize on afterlife; also, both the Judaism religion and the Buddhism religion do not proselytize their religion or their moral teachings. Judaism, as we have already said emphasize on moral uprightness in obedience to God as a way of living out the Abrahamic covenant. The Holy book of the Jews, the Torah explains clearly the right conduct that the Jews should observe in keeping with the demands of the Abrahamic covenant. The moral teachings of Judaism emphasize the need for the people to treat each other in a humane and a morally right way.

Persuasive Letter - Essay Example Communication Solutions for the last five years and prior work experience at the procurement department at the Cortland County Government offices not only present me as an ideal representative of our organization in the deal, but also opens a new chapter for our customer experience if my application goes through. Basing my application from an internal perspective of the two organizations party to the contract, my conversance with the systems of operation regarding procurement objectives at Cortland County Government and sales objectives at Lintech Communication Solutions will assist me to negotiate the best deal out of the contract. In light of the past circumstances causing revocation of rather lucrative contracts, it can squarely be blamed on the lack of understanding between Lintech Communication Solutions representative and our clients. As past management reports confirm, such failure can be attributed to a poor customer experience based on misunderstanding of the two systems of operation. Having been a part of the two contractual organizations, my representation of Lintech Communication Solutions at the initiation negotiations can guarantee success to this end. The familiarity that I have with the County Government officials is a valuable bargaining beginning for our organization. Besides my strategic advantage with conversance, my recent engagements on behalf of Lintech Communication Solutions have been in contracts of installation of video conferencing equipment for three different county government offices. All of these projects can be rated one of the best for the entire country and Lintech Communication Solutions, since the Federal Government rolled out the video conferencing plan for all government offices. Having taken part in the pilot projects that have had such success presents me as the ideal candidate for yet another successful negotiation for our organization. Walking Through the Baroque Music Era Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words
Walking Through the Baroque Music Era - Essay Example Since the era was of absolute monarchy, the life of the nation would center around the exploits of the current leader. And such influence would be seen in all the structures in the country. Of course, spectacular musical and theatrical performances would be staged for the benefit of the monarchs and their foreign visitors. In other words, artists during that time served as instruments for the monarchs to stay or rise in rank. Moreover, JM Howard highlighted three major points vital in the formation of the Baroque as a historical musical era. First is reformation and counter-reformation, second is the existence of the wealthy families of Europe, and third is the desire of the Europe courts to maintain an image. The Reformation and the Counter-Reformation: Since the 17th century became more like a competition between recruiting parties of the Catholic and Protestant parties, many artists and musicians were able to perform on several concerts that were put up to convince people what the best church is. The Wealthy Families of Europe: Since during the 17th century, monarchs and aristocrats ruled, there was a need to somehow show the peasants that the ruling class had soft side, which would be shown through their taste in music. According to Thornburgh, music from the Baroque period is a mixture of many styles: there is Italian, French, English, and German Baroque music; early, middle, and late Baroque music; and even secular and sacred Baroque music. And of course, one must not forget. to mention the different personal styles of the many composers and musicians. Having said that, it would definitely be hard to clearly define what Baroque music is like because of its numerous elements. However, Thornburgh said there is a way to describe Baroque music in a more particular manner, and that is through its musical instruments, stylistic elements, and musical esthetic. Baroque Musical Instruments Voice. Being the oldest musical instrument, the voice would probably thought of being the most natural tool for music making. However, a true Baroque singer is very well-trained and is in many ways different from today's opera singers. Thornburgh said the difference is that Baroque singers accentuate the "difference in tone color between lower and higher registers" as compared to having "uniformity of tone color for which today's voice strives across the vocal range." Moreover,

Filamentous DNA Phages Single Stranded RNA Phages
Filamentous DNA Phages Single Stranded RNA Phages INTRODUCTION: Bacteriophages are one of the most widely studied organisms than that of bacteria and any other living organism. They are mainly used in that of molecular biology studies, because of lesser complexity they are usually preferred over other organism. A bateriophage is a bacterial parasite which can neither grow or replicate on its own but can do so within a given organism. The major success of bacteriophage truly depends upon the genetic element which is usually packed within the capsid. the genetic element can either be a single stranded or double stranded linear, circular DNA /RNA. The filamentous bacteriophages are single stranded DNA phages about 5.5nm in diameter and they usually are present in a ring like form. They show the presence of about 10000 nucleotide and they usually harbour in Gram negative host. They usually adsorb on the tail like component called sex pilus which is responsible for the transmission of plasmids. The major properties of these virus are that it does not harm the host. The other general properties of filamentous DNA phages are as follows: They can be grown in extremely high titre because they do not lyse the cells. They are extremely small in size and they can mainly be studied and used in molecular biology experiments. It is the only virus which has been crystallized for the analysis using x-ray diffraction and a good model for studying mutations. The interaction between the host and the virus can be used as a model for studying characteristics property of oncogenic virus. Three filamentous E.coli phages i.e M13,fd, f1 have been carefully studied and each of them have a life cycle similar to that à ¢Ã ±Ã ·174. M13 bacteriophage: M13 is a filamentous bacteriophage it has circular ssDNA. It contains about 6407 nucleotides. It contains major coat protein P8 and it capped with 5 minor protein P9,P6,P3.P3 protein attaches to the tip of the pilus E.coli. They are non-lethal and they form turbid plaques in Ec.oli they bring about reduction in the cell growth process. They are also used for structural studies. The phage particles: The phage is assembled by that of 50 amino acids protein called p8.It takes about 2700 copies of p8 to make about the coat 90 nm long.It has been seen that is quite flexible .Other distinct proteins which are usually present P9 mainly comprises about 5 copies. P7 p9 are usually seen in micrographs they are extremely small in size containing about 32-33 amono acids. The other end of the phage particles contain about 5 copies of the surface exposed p3and less exposed accessory protein p6.They form a rounded tip and the p6 is the the final protein to interact with the E.coli host during invasion. Phage life cycle: The filament phage uses the F pilus to infect E.coli with the M 13 tip containing the TolA protein on bacterial pilus. The phage genome is transferred to the cytoplasm of E.coli where the resident protein convert single stranded DNA genome to a double stranded replicative form(RF).This DNA acts like a template for the expression of phage gene. The second phase mainly involves amplification of the genome p2 it nicks the double strand form of the genome to initiate the replication of strand without which no replication occurs. Host enzymes replicate the(+) strand resulting in more copies of dsDNA.p5 competes with ds DNA formation by sequestering copies of the (+) stranded DNA into a protein/DNA complex designed to pack recovery phages. Another important protein p10 is important for regulating the number of ds genome in the bacterial host without which no strand an accommodate .Phage maturation requires p4 translational restart p11.Multiple copies of p4 assemble in outer membrane into a table barrel shaped structure.A number of p1 and p11 5/6 copies each)assemble inside the inner bacterial membrane.p1 p11 ans p4 together they are responsible for the release of mature phage. REPLICATION IN M13: Replication in m13 can be explained as follows; Viral (+) strand DNA enterscytoplasm Complementary (-) strandis synthesized by bacterial enzymes DNA Gyrase, atype II topoisomerase, acts ondouble-stranded DNAand catalyzes formation ofnegative supercoilsin double-stranded DNA Final product is parental replicative form (RF) DNA A phage protein, pII, nicks the (+) strand in the RF 3-hydroxyl acts as a primer in the creation of new viral strand pII circulizes displaced viral (+) strand DNA Pool of progeny double-stranded RF molecules produced Negative strand of RF is template of transcription mRNAs are translated into the phage proteins Phage proteins in the cytoplasm are pII, pX, and pV, and they are part of the replication process of DNA. The other phage proteins are synthesized and inserted into the cytoplasmic or outer membranes. pV dimers bind newly synthesized single-stranded DNA and prevent conversion to RF DNA RF DNA synthesis continues and amount of pV reaches critical concentration DNA replication switches to synthesis of single-stranded (+) viral DNA pV-DNA structures from about 800nm long and 8nm in diameter pV-DNA complex is substrate in phage assembly reaction. Research: SINGLE STRANDED RNA PHAGES: Single stranded RNA are found everywhere E. coli lives in the intestinal tract of man and animals. They can also be found in sewage samples .They are harmless creature in case of humans.RNA phages are tailless, icosahedron like that of à â⬠¢174 and it mainly involves E. coli phages f2,R17,MS-2 Qà ². The RNA is a linear single stranded molecule having about 3600 nucleotides it contains 3 genes encoding a coat protein an attachment protein (A) and a RNA replicase. The RNA molecule acts both like a template and also like an mRNA so they do not possess a DNA polymerase and the regulation occurs at the translational level. They have large burst size and they form huge crystalline arrays within each bacterium. Cell lysis usually takes place at a time ranging from 30-60 minutes after infection. Virus structure: Virions contain about 180 copies of the coat protein arranged in a T=3 icosahedral shell that encloses THE RNA. alloleviviruses contain about 15 copies of the read through protein.the encapsidated RNA is resistant to ribonuclease treatment. The damaged virion are exposed to RNAase activity. The structures have been resolved by x-ray diffraction methods Life cycle of RNA PHAGE: ENTRY: Upon entry the ribosome they usually attach to the CP gene which is the centremost gene of the RNA molecule. TRANSLATION : The stem and loop structures in RNA block the ribosomal binding sites of the A and the Rep proteins. The translation of the CP gene opens the binding site of the Rep proteins .Both proteins are made but the increasing amounts of the CP proteins bind to the rep site and block translation of the rep gene. About 2 x 10 copies are needed as structural components whereas replicase is needed only in catalytic amounts. Replication of the phage RNA:The Qà ²has a tetramer consisting of one Rep molecule with about three proteins-EF-Ts EF-Tutranslation factors needed for the placement of charged TrnaMOLECULES Synthesis of A protein: The binding site for the A protein is never available on the free(+)strand. The replication begins at the 3ââ¬â¢teerminus close to the A gene. After synthesis of the (+) strand begind there is a brief period when the protein A gets translated. The A number is maintained and it is equal to the number of the (+) strand .it is believed that the A protein bring about the interaction of the RNA with the CP molecules PARTICLE ASSEMBLY: THE CP PROTEIN MOLE CULES spontaneously aggregate around the newly synthesized (+) strand and form an icosahedral shell. Cell lysis: Once about 10000 phages are formed the cell undergoes lysis and no lytic enzymes are left behind ,the mechanism still remains unknown. The Qà ² phage: It is an RNA virus affecting E.coli. Contains a positive sense single strand RNA. It is one of the smallest known viruses measuring about 24 nm in diameter. Its icosahedral capsid consists of about 180 copies of the same protein. The strands acts like that of an mRNA and it also acts like a template for the replication of a complimentary strand. Susann Gene This teacher is very good in teaching, overtime we have a class she always makes us laugh that's why our attention focus on her more. V.Worst/Unwanted Teacher For me, the qualities of a bad/worst teacher are he/she is lack of organizational skills. Every teacher has to keep up with so many things on a daily basis that they must be organized to do their Jobs effectively. A teacher can't be a best teacher if he/she is lack of classroom management. Lastly, he/she must act as a professional in a sense that he/she is not always absent nor late. 1. Mr.. Lovers Haploid To be honest, I don't like the way he manage the class, its because every time that one of my classmates makes mistake he is always implicating th e whole class. 2. Mr.. He is Just checking the the attendance and that's it. 4. Mr.. Ryan Macaulay He's approachable but, the way he deal with his class is very unprofessional. 5. Estella Merman She is definitely good at explaining the lesson. But I don't like the way she discuss, she is Just explaining and she don't make a recitation for us. VI. Places I have visited Last March 8, 2014, me and my classmates in first year went to Enchanted garden inAngst Vulcan for an educational tour. The wind is very fresh looks like you are in the province. I promise that its not only the last time that I going to visit it.

Business Strategy and Competitive Environment of Minor League Baseball Team
Baseball is probably one of the most famous sports in the United States, along with basketball. It is very prominent and well-played in different parts of the United States, and is rapidly spreading throughout the world. It is even considered as United Statesââ¬â¢ national pastime. Minor Leagues pertain to professional baseball teams that play on levels lower than that of the minor leagues and teams in the minor league usually is an affiliate member of a major league baseball team. Competitors of Sports Baseball as a form of entertainment has a number of stiff competitors. There is the media with all of its forms ââ¬â television, movies and internet. There are also an increasing attendance in theme parks, amusement parks and even carnivals. Baseballââ¬â¢s tickets would also be an additional expense to a householdââ¬â¢s budget. All the more thatââ¬â¢s people may be dragged away from enjoying the actual game. Movies never go out of fashion because there will always be so mething new for the audience. The themes of movies are well-thought of. There are various genres that would definitely fit any individualââ¬â¢s taste and preference. For every craving of the people, the media will innovate something to fulfill these cravings. Television, a long temptation for youngsters and competition to other forms of entertainment, still gets much attention from the populace. Television offers a wide array of shows for all genders of different ages. With the cable channels and other features and programs in television, most people would rather stay at home watching television instead of going out to watch sports games or even engage themselves in playing sports. Theme parks and amusement parks also offer a lot of fun, especially for the family. All of these things are stiff competitions for the baseball industry or for sports industry in general. The Birmingham Barons, a minor league baseball team based in Birmingham, Alabama is the focus of this paper. The mino r league baseball team, Birmingham Barons, is one of the most recognized baseball teams in the United States. The history of the team will be traced back in 1885 where it was played by many during the early years of baseball. Nearly two-thirds of Baronsââ¬â¢ fans attend the games with family members. The typical fan is a college-educated and in an upper to middle income (Birmingham Barons, LLC, 2007).During 1990s Hispanic population in Alabama increased for more than 210%, almost 27% of which are in the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Area which the leading U. S. center for the Hispanic population growth and business development (Shattuck, 2005). Birmingham, Alabama also has lots of museums; Arlington Home, Alabama Museum of Health Sciences, Southern Museum of Flight, Bessemer Hall of History, Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark, and the Birmingham Museum of Art, the largest museum in the location, are just some to name. A number of festivals are also found in Birmingham, wh ich features music, films, regional heritage.Future Objectives With these competitive environment of baseball in Birmingham that may be pulling the audience away from the game, the management of the said minor league baseball team should innovate ways to attract not only the Whites, but also the Hispanic masses especially now that there is a rapid growth of Hispanic population in Birmingham, Alabama. The management could consider developing a more easy to recall jingle or song, that whenever played in radio stations and television, will cling more to the minds of the people. The Birmingham Barons could also be more visible, not only to the popular masses, but also to those in small towns. Through this, more and more people could know the team and they would be more psyched to see them play. Visibility in advertisements and community work could also help in making them known. Advertisements are a seemingly sure, yet expensive way, of making the team closer to the peopleââ¬â¢s heart . Birmingham Barons has existed since 1885, thus their advertisement need not be that expensive. What they need is mass promotion. To know which of the media is most effective for the advertisement, the management may conduct Audience Needs Analysis. This is a survey to determine the medium preferred or most used by the people. For example, they tuned in more often to radio than on televisions. Or most of the people have radio sets than television. Once the management was able to determine the medium preferred by people, they would know where they could put more advertisement about their league. They may also target community radio stations, community television networks, and community newspapers. These media are not run through sponsorship and thus may accept advertisements and announcements for free. In addition, it caters to the community especially to the grassroots therefore reaching a large number of people. Another strategy to get the attention of people especially the youngste rs would be a visit to the places far away from the main office of the team. They could reach out for the out-of-school youth and for those who cannot go to their free games. These people are probably not that exposed to the game and to the team as well and thus did a little or no effort at all to go and watch the live games. They may also strengthen their fan clubs that will be of great help in promoting their teams and the baseball. The Birmingham Barons could also have school and campus tours. They could visit different primary and secondary schools, introduce their teams to the students, and promote baseball games. In these ways, they will be more visible and exposed to these young people who might have interest with sports. And perhaps for those who donââ¬â¢t have any interest, it would be a start to develop even a little love for sports. In terms of the number of games which saturated the people, they could have what is so-called Special Game. In here, they may go against the usual happenings in their games. For example, they will have guests from the show business in this specific date of game, a famous actor or actress perhaps. Current Strategies To attract more audience, the management of the Birmingham Barons and the whole minor baseball league offer discounts for the early buyers of tickets, for wholesale buyers of tickets and for long-time customers. These steps encourage baseball fanatics to reserve tickets earlier and these also heighten the loyalty of the audiences to the baseball team. The team and managements give small gifts and thank you tokens to their fans for their loyalty. They actually give souvenirs and give-aways after the games. The team do play games at 11:00 am designed for school children. Schools get a heavily discounted game and meal ticket for the game and since they start at 11:00 they still get back to the school before 3:00.They also have youth clinics where children come to the park on Sundays and learn from our players. Th e Barons created a ââ¬Å"Home Runâ⬠for the Community Donation Program wherein they give tickets to the non-profit organizations. The non-profit organizations then use the tickets as silent auction items or door prizes and the proceeds were donated. Another community based activity of the Barons is their tie-up with the Pull-A-Part ââ¬Å"Pulling against Child Abuseâ⬠promotion where they gave donation to a Childrenââ¬â¢s Hospital (Birmingham Barons, LLC, 2007).As of now, Barons have what they call Sponsorship/Marketing Kit which includes scoreboard, yearbook, radio and stadium advertising. They call for business advertisements during their games through these advertisement mediums. These have become attractive for advertisers because their captive audiences are people of middle to upper classes. As a minor league baseball team, they already have a capability of collecting funds through these sponsorships and that enables them to reach out to the masses. Assumptions an d CapabilitiesThe Birmingham Barons are already getting a big income through sponsorships and tickets sales. Most probably, their income will not actually be affected by giving extra discounts for the long time customers, early and wholesale ticket buyers, and most especially to young fans, Latino or Hispanic fans who may be driven away by other forms of entertainment the Birmingham is rich for. Birmingham Barons has already a good business strategy ââ¬â they have that Marketing and Sponsorship kits which includes radio advertising, and they also have their official website. This has already enabled them to captive a large number of audiences. In addition, they are also involved in community services and an example is that ââ¬Å"Home Runâ⬠for the Community Donation Program. The thing they must have some changes is about their target audience. Baseball should not be just for those who have money and can afford to buy tickets, but for other members of the society also. Baseb all is a game for kids as what Barons General Manager Jonathan Nelson said during their tie up with Pull-A-Part (Birmingham Barons, LLC).Thatââ¬â¢s why I also believe it should be promoted especially to young generation of fans. Baseball is not also for whites, but for everyone. Thus, it is also good to promote this with others like the Hispanic or Latino. And it is good to know that Birmingham Barons is offering a family-oriented entertainment through this sport. There are really many factors to be considered and studied carefully before acting or making decision especially in business and its environment. The key point is to focus on the goal and what is really needed. But the goal is not just to increase the income of sports but must be beyond it. They must also aim to promote the love and patronize for sports. Just think what will happen if the young people of todayââ¬â¢s generation will lose interest to sports. And with the Birmingham Barons existence and fame for more or less one hundred years, I know they can make it to the peopleââ¬â¢s heart to once again gain their attentions and affections for sport. Review of D Nakanos Movie White Mans Burden essays
Review of D Nakanos Movie White Mans Burden essays The film "White Man's Burden is a deliberate attempt by the director, Desmond Nakano, to show what the effects of race and social status are on a person's beliefs, attitudes and behavior. The setting for the film is modern day America with a twist. In the film, blacks dominate economically, politically, and culturally, while whites represent the underclass. Touching upon issues that are prevalent in society today, the film gives the viewer a glimpse of what it's like to be a minority living in a society where the social norms and popular culture are defined by the ruling class. These issues are presented in ways that are both direct and indirect. Mr. Nakano uses his characters Thaddeus Taylor and Louis Pinnock to illustrate both sides of the racial and class divide. It is in the first scene that we meet the antagonist of the movie, Thaddeus Taylor. The character of Thaddeus is the archetype of what we perceive members of the establishment to be. He's a wealthy and influentia l businessman with a less than flattering opinion of those that are of a different race and socioeconomic status. The director uses this character to draw attention to the prejudices and assumptions that many members of the upper class have about the poor and minorities, particularly those living in the inner city. In the first scene, Thaddeus is having a dinner party with other well to do friends and family members and the conversation turn to one of Thaddeus' business deals. The deal involved the development of a shopping center in the inner city, which was burned down three months after it opened. One of the guests at the dinner party commented that it was a shame that the shopping center burnt down, because it would have provided jobs and infused money into a community that was economically deprived. Although the film didn't go into much detail, it is evident that those living in the neighborhood set the fire. Thaddeus comments that there is som...

Popular Chainsaw Brands You Can Buy on Amazon
Popular Chainsaw Brands You Can Buy on Amazon A survey was conducted several years ago to determine the popularity of chainsaw brands used by woodsmen users in the United States. Listed in the survey included both dealer-supported saws and big box saws sold at local hardware chains. The list also included boxed products to include Poulan, Craftsman, Remington, Hitachi as well as dealer-sold saws including Husqvarna, Stihl, Jonsered, and Echo. Husqvarna Barely Beatsà Stihl One interesting observation in the survey was that dealer-serviced saws topped the popularity list. With over 3,100 votes cast, Husqvarna was narrowly selected over Stihl as the chainsaw of choice voted on by Forestry readers. Here are the percentages of preference and ranked by saw brand: Husqvarna - 41%Stihl - 40%Jonsered -à 7%Echo - 4%All others - 8% Voting for a favorite saw was extremely close between the first and second place brands. Husqvarna and Stihl are by far the most popular saws in America according to this survey. Although this was not a scientific survey, these saw brands were acclaimed to be the preferred saws of the survey readership; most, if not all these models, have high ratings. It should be noted that industry competition and availability of dealers change as do these rankings locally. It has become obvious over the years that a local branded service center increases sales. Buying available service with a warranty guarantee is as, if not more important than the price paid for the chainsaw. A power tool will malfunction over time and you will need service and parts over the life of the saw, as noted by power equipment dealer Tom Bernosky in a saw industry trade magazine. ââ¬Å"Always remember when buying any machine, buy from somebody who can service. You will only hurt yourself and your business by buying something at a mart-type store. Iââ¬â¢m not saying you canââ¬â¢t buy mail order, just make sure they do the service work. If they donââ¬â¢t, your warranty isnââ¬â¢t worth the paper itââ¬â¢s printed on.â⬠Tom Bernosky Latest Chainsaw Medium Power Picks For non-professional but regular chainsaw users, several models are recommended. Power models are usually heavier, have more cubic centimeters of displacement (- 40 ccs) and tend to come standard with 16 bars. These saws are primarily picked by resource managers, forest and landscape owners, and businesses who use saws regularly but are not professional timber fellers. They will cost slightly more than smaller saws and are typically on sale from between $250 and $350 each. See the top most voted for chainsaws below. Voted #1:à Husqvarna Saws Swedish company Husqvarna builds chainsaws for both the professional and casual user and is available for purchase on Amazon. A Husky saw has excellent power-to-weight ratios but does not compromise on a slim saw body design and on lightness. Husqvarna saws are built with LowVib, Air Injection, and a Smart Start function that makes them very easy to start. All saws have mandatory safety features and offerà a variety of chainsaw for every requirement. The recommended top bargain power modelà is the Husqvarna 440E Chainsaw. Voted #2:à Stihl Saw Germanys Stihl has been in the chainsaw business for over 70 years but only sells through exclusive dealerships. They have developed a slim saw form and continually developà significant advances in saw technology. The Stihl saw has an anti-vibe technology for fatigue free operation and they claim to be leading manufacturer of saws worldwide. All saws have mandatory safety features and offerà a variety of chainsaw for every requirement. The recommended topà bargain power modelà (Consumer Reports Listing)à is theà Stihl MS 180C Chainsaw. Voted #3:à Jonsered Saws Jonseredââ¬â¢s from Gothenburg, Sweden and has been producing wood processing machinery since the 1880ââ¬â¢s. Dealerships have not been fully developed in all areas of North America but are great sawsà if backed up by a local dealer and are sold online. The Jonsered actually produced the prototype for todayââ¬â¢s modern one-man chainsaw. The recommended topà bargain power modelà is theà Jonsered CS2238 Chainsaw and can be purchased on Amazon. Voted #4:à Echo Saws Echo is Japans leading manufacturer of chainsaws and sells to professionals and casual private users alike. They are currently challenging the bigger companies from Germany and Scandinavia. Echo has earned a following among power saw users for giving outstanding performance and dependability. The recommendedââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹Ã power modelà is the Echo Chainsaw CS 310.

Lower Division Capstone Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Lower Division Capstone - Essay Example I would say that this strategy can be considered as home runs because this investment can bring about a lot of revenue in the future. In order to increase their revenue this company should market through digital media. This can also be categorized as low hanging strategy. I strongly recommend the use of this digital media i.e. online marketing, blogs, forums, social media etc as customer behavior is changing every day and people (doctors) mostly use internet as the source of information for new drugs. This would definitely have positive effect on the company as it can have direct contact with customers through this. This can result in great financial improvements (Abbott 2011). DEAN FOODS: Dean foods is an American food company which mainly deals in milk and dairy products. Marketing plan for dean foods can be advertisements through newspapers or pamphlets, door to door service and change in the way of presenting the product. All these are very common yet effective ways of marketing. Advertisements in newspapers and door to door service both can lie in low hanging fruit category. The success of the change in the presentation can be risky because it depends upon the consumerââ¬â¢s taste. ... It is one of the top brands worldwide for womenââ¬â¢s undergarments. It needs to be very innovative when it comes to its marketing strategies and it is already doing very well in it. New models should be hired every year so that consumers are not bored by the same faces. More and more ads should be put in all kind of magazines instead of just fashion ones. Any new product that comes up should be immediately advertised. All these will help Victoriaââ¬â¢s secret to continue being a monopoly in lingerie business. Hiring new models can be low hanging fruit for the company. Putting ads in different magazines can be both low hanging fruit and home runs. Hiring new models can be a little risky because the success of it actually depends upon customerââ¬â¢s taste. I would strongly recommend my second advice of advertising the product in all kind of papers and magazines because this would also target customers who do not read fashion magazines. It will increase the demand and will enh ance public relations (Business Week 2006; Franco 2000). BIBLIOGRAPHY: Dean Foods Company STRATEGIES: ONE BIG SECRET. Why do firms exist Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Why do firms exist - Essay Example A simple, yet, complete definition of firms may help in starting the debate about why they actually exist. Fisher, Prentice & Waschik (2010), define firm as ââ¬Å"a group of workers and managers, collectively called labor, and a group of physical assets, like machinery in a manufacturing operation or computers in a service sector firm, collectively called capital, which produce goods and/or services (p. 14). This definition provides three major areas where people are involved with the firms. People, firstly, work for or manage the firms as labor, secondly they invest in businesses and firms to earn profits and giving firms the strength of progress in the form of capital, and lastly people use the products or services offered by the firms. Hence, our life is, in one way or the other, dependent on firms. It is a way of earning for one group and a way of gathering necessities of life for the other like food stuff, clothing, and professional services like legal, educational or healthcar e services and so on. Owing to the importance of firms in our regular activities and modern life, this paper aims to answer the question: why do firms exist? In doing so, this paper will provide perspectives of different researchers and their theories to justify the claims made. Theory of Firm Theory of firm necessitates by trying to predict how the business would carry out their prescribed strategies to achieve their ultimate goal and that is profit maximization. The theory of firm helps predict and explain other alternatives and decision made by the company. Traditionally it was based on having sole goal of profit maximization. But most recent analysis, theories and researches suggest that sales maximization or market share that is satisfying the needs of the customers along with satisfying its legitimate stake holders, combined with satisfactory profits may be the main purpose of businesses in short term as well as in long term to survive. Traditionally companiesââ¬â¢ were fol lowing stock holder theory that is managers had one objective of maximizing share holder value. For example a company would not mind shutting down a branch in a region or country and resulting in thousands of people being unemployed and affecting the whole economy of that region or country. Despite these factors, the managers would have let the factory moved to another region or country because labor is cheap and plentiful there. Traditional theory suggested companies to disregard safety practices or other practices to preserve social responsibilities, according to theory, as they would have to spend money over it which reduces profit. However, if such avoidance of such actions charges the companies with substantial penalty or case file or dereputation resulting in more expenses (fines) than the companies were encouraged to provide equipment and running the safety policy. The risks of fewer sales by customer boycotting the companyââ¬â¢s products are also avoided by adopting such practices in the modern business arena and companies would fall into instrumental form of skate holder theory (Schroeder, Clark, and Cathey 2010, pp. 124-128). Stake holder theory is referred as 21st century theory where the organizations are so large that they can affect the whole society significantly. This broader impact of organizational procedures and processes suggest that they cannot just be responsible to share holders i.e. obeying stock holder t
